FROM THERE AND NOWHERE CHRONICLES
JÉRÉMY GRIFFAUD (FRANCE)
‘From There And Nowhere Chronicles’ is a collection of animated short stories depicting an imaginary outskirt. Roads roundabouts, shopping areas and green pasture embody here a certain idea of ‘beyond the outskirts. The film puts on stage a certain glance toward urbanisation in the outskirts of most cities. Rationalism overtakes beauty. Neo-Liberalism overtakes landscapes.
This film does not offer a solution to useless urbanization, or an idealistic vision of nature. It is a window showing an existing present and an undesired future. Perhaps we can modify the way we conceive the economy on these areas. Changing the ways we live and consume - preserving these landscapes from superfluous peri-urban commercial areas. May in the future poets as André Chénier or Virgil continue to be inspired by these places, turned back into landscapes.
